Fuel Testing

Your car, your body and your ipod all require a very specific fuel to operate properly. Your car won’t run on vegetable juice. Your ipod won’t run on gasoline. Your body won’t run on batteries. Pretty obvious right?

Gasifiers like specific fuels too. Fuel size, fuel moisture and fuel species all play a role in good performance.

Since there is so much variability in biomass fuel types we offer and strongly recommend fuel testing. Fuel testing allows us to see if your locally available fuel  source (wood chunks, chips, pellets, seeds, pits, etc.) is compatible with the Off Gridder before you take delivery. With a few hours of testing we can tell alot about the anticipated performance of your fuel as well as make recommendations about optimizing hearth configurations.

If for some reason it doesnt work, we simply won’t sell you an Off Gridder. No big deal. We don’t earn our living by selling people tools they can’t use and benefit from. You can seek out another locally available fuel to try or seek out another alternative energy technology altogether.

Getting Started

Step 1: Place your Off Gridder order and testing is free. Or test with no purchase and there is a low $199 flat fee for a day’s worth of testing.

Step 2: Find a locally available fuel source like fire wood. Cut it into chunks or thick chips. Make sure its dry. Don’t send uncut 2×4’s, lawn clippings, bark, mulch, etc.

Step 3: Box up 80-150 lbs. and ship it to us UPS or Fedex. The more you send the more we can test. Our shipping address is provided on purchase.

Step 4: We test it and give you an appraisal of performance and make any suggestions.

Step 5: Presto! Start making energy when your Off Gridder arrives.
